The Medan Trio combines jazz music with visual art. This gives us, Kasper Rietkerk, Nathalie Schaap and Laurens Schweppe, the challange to compose, play and improvise while telling one story that’s in line with the visuals. Nowadays we are performing the show: ‘Het verhaal van Tareq’. For this show, they are joined by visual artist Timon Vader.

This is the story of Tareq. His story represents the story of millions of others in the world. The world famous story of the refugee. With ’the story of Tareq’ the Medan trio, with visuals of Timon Vader, makes this story intimate. On the basis of conversations they had with Tareq, they made a performance filled with music, illustration and animation.

Dit is het verhaal van Tareq. Zijn verhaal is het verhaal van miljoenen anderen in de wereld. Het wereldberoemde verhaal van de vluchteling. Met ‘het verhaal van Tareq’ maakt het Medan trio, met beeld van Timon Vader, dit verhaal intiem. Aan de hand van gesprekken die zij met Tareq voerden, maakten zij een voorstelling vol muziek, illustratie en animatie.
